Apostle Dr. Gloria M. James and the late Bishop Jacob N. James, Founders

HISTORY

           After traveling and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ with signs following in twenty-nine countries, Evangelist Jacob N. James came to the United States where he met Evangelist Gloria M. James. They were married on July 1, 1972.

            On July 7, 1972, a prayer meeting and Bible study was started in their home at 190 Garfield Court in Long Branch, NJ.  The ministry grew and many people were saved, healed, and delivered. The congregation spent much time in prayer and fasting seeking the Lord, so much so that the ministry became known as “prayer.”

            The congregation moved from house to house as the congregation grew until a building was purchased in 1979. The location is the same today, but the building has been renovated to a larger space that includes classroom space for The Power of Christ’s Gospel Academy.

ABOUT THE MINISTRY

           From its inception, we declared that this ministry would manifest “The Power of Christ’s Gospel” by winning souls, and reaching the lost, sick, and needy for Christ (Psalm  2:8).

            We also call the ministry “Prayer” because prayer is the key to receiving the blessing of God in this ministry.  Many signs, wonders and miracles were wrought through prayer, God using both Bishop and Pastor James.

            In this ministry, the Word of God is preached, and the principles of salvation, faith, holiness, and sanctification are taught. We believe in the five fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11,12) and the operation of the gifts of the spirit 

(I Corinthians 12:8-14).
