Apostle Dr. Gloria M. James
An illustrative teacher and discerning preacher of the word of God, Apostle Dr. Gloria M. James has received a mandate from the Lord to lead God’s people into worship, prepare and equip them for ministry and for His second coming.
She was installed as pastor of The Power of Christ’s Gospel Ministries, Inc., on January 20, 2001 and serves as president of the ministry. She was consecrated an Apostle on May 20, 2006. The apostolic order anointing of the five-fold ministry was imparted to her in December 2003 under the leadership of Apostle Rabbi Julio Faraco. Currently, the continued impartation of the five-fold ministry is under the leadership of Apostle Dr. Reginald W. Atkins founder of Zion International Fellowship (ZIF) and Pastor Dr. Cynthia A. Atkins. Apostle Dr. Gloria M. James has also completed all requirements for the office of Apostle of the International Council of Apostles and Prophets (ICAP) under the leadership of the founders Apostle William E. Epps and Apostle Earl Thomas.
Apostle James has been an ordained minister, holding a missionary license for more than 35 years. She was first called to serve the Lord as an evangelist, and has traveled to 14 countries that include Scotland, England, Trinidad, Grenada, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Haiti, Bermuda, Germany, Canada, Jamaica and Puerto Rico as well as many states in the U.S.A., spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ with many signs following, seeing souls saved, healed and delivered. She worked as a counselor with the Billy Graham Association and the Tom Skinner Crusades.
Apostle James has attended Shady Rest Bible Institute and the Newark Evening Bible School in preparation of her call into the ministry. An Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian College, Jacksonville Florida, was conferred upon Apostle James on May 19, 2007.
Her local ministry and community work include founding The Power of Christ’s Gospel Academy when she saw the need to educate and train the total child: spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially. She knew that if given a chance, children could excel in spite of their challenges. She served as the director of the Academy for 21 years, and also taught on occasion.
Apostle James served as an assistant to her late husband, Bishop Jacob N. James, during the formation and growth the ministry. Over the years, under Bishop James’ leadership, she has had many responsibilities including vice-president, treasurer and Administrative Minister. She is currently, the director of the Music and Women’s Ministries at her local church and also ministers through spiritual and revival meetings and crusades. She also teaches Bible classes, conducts teaching and training seminars, workshops and conferences as led by the Lord. She is active in drug counseling training and the prison ministry. She has served as a volunteer at the Food Pantry and in Pastoral Care at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, serves on the Monmouth Health Center Community Advisory Board, the Long Branch Urban Ministerium, Greater Long Branch Ministerium, Pastor to Pastors and the Concerned Christian Coalition; is the Monmouth County, New Jersey Coordinator for the Women Intercessors for the Church and the Nations (Wailing Women Worldwide), is the Coordinator of the Pastoral Prayer for Long Branch, New Jersey and participates in the National Day of Prayer. In addition, she has a burden for pastor’s wives, women in the ministry, pastors, the City of Long Branch, New Jersey and to see the Apostolic Ministry, which Christ originally gave to the church, fulfilled in the world.
Prior to being called to ministry full-time, Apostle James worked at Bell Laboratories for 15 years. She is the daughter of the late Margaret G. and William L. Bates and was born and raised in Long Branch, New Jersey. She graduated from the Long Branch Public School system and attended Monmouth College. She was married to the late Bishop Jacob N. James for 34 years, she has four children, 14 grandchildren.
